This web portal is the outcome of a research project of the Department of Human Studies of the University of Turin, and it was financed by PRIN and FIRB funds. Other partners in this project are Teche Rai and Rai National Symphony Orchestra. The research group, which was coordinated by Andrea Malvano, achieved the following goals: catalogue – and partly digitise – historical collections according to criteria meeting international standards; draw up a complete timeline of Rai concerts, from 1933 to today, performed by Turin, Rome, Milan, Naples by local and national orchestras; publish a monograph on the historical-critical analysis of the arrangements produced by entertainment orchestras and; write a series of essays based on concerts timeline; catalogue, entirely digitise and philologically analyse the collection of «Autographs and Rare Documents». The catalogue of historical collections has reached 11,000 bibliographic units. The timeline and catalogue can be searched online on this portal created with the support of Rai Teche. All the publications are currently in press with publishers distributed in Italy and abroad. Also, thanks to the commitment of the research group and of Rai staff, Verdi's material was showcased in the exhibitions organised for the commemoration of his bicentenary in 2014: at Rai Auditorium in Turin in November 2013 and at the Vittoriano in Rome, as part of a show organised under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, between November 2013 and February 2014. Moreover, the study and promotion of the «Autographs and Rare Documents» collection facilitated connections and collaborations with world renowned institutions, such as Felix Mendelssohn Briefausgabe, Online Chopin Variorum Edition (OCVE) conducted by the University of Cambridge together with King’s College in London, «V. Bellini» Foundation in Catania and the Istituto Nazionale di Studi Verdiani.
